On a bustling street in Paris, we constructed a surreal feminine space — a blend of softness and indulgence, reality and contradiction. At the centre of the room, a white bed is surrounded by scattered seashells and everyday objects: a ceramic dog, nearly rotten fruit, a large wooden fish tank, a faux tree, and furniture wrapped in fabric. The performer, Kominato Yotsuha—a Japanese woman who transitioned from dance to adult film — portrays an ordinary girl spending an idle day at home in a relaxed physical state. She ”exposes“ herself to the audience, her body intensely scrutinised and observed, provoking profound reflections on bodily autonomy and the dynamics of gaze.
The most poignant moment occurs as she traces the contours of her body—a brush gliding along her fingertips and the edges of her arms, slowly outlining her form. In this moment, the social self is stripped away from the ”body,“ and she becomes a pure existence, transcending the boundaries of the gaze. The traces left behind become a candid part of life‘s trajectory, echoing the silent dialogue between body and self.
